My Strange Addiction: Eye Shadow Palettes

Tuesday, October 31, 2017

Everyone should know by now that I love a good luxury makeup product. I have recently delved into substituting drug store alternatives, but I am yet to find a cheaper replacement for eye shadow. Palettes are a great way to try out multiple shades and formulations from your fave brands without shelling out for single pots. Here are my favourite palettes:

1. NAKED by Urban Decay

This palette was one I coveted for a long time before finally receiving it as a gift. I have blue eyes and the shades are very complementary to that. I have used the shade "Sin" in its entirety and hit pan on my favourite brow bone highlighter, "Virgin". This palette is a great investment and can be used for more everyday looks or darkened and glitzed into evening. It includes UD's matte, glitter and satin finishes and can be found online or in stores for $66.00CAD

2. SWAMP QUEEN by Tarte (in collaboration with GRAV3YARD GIRL)

This palette was a spontaneous purchase on a trip to the states. It has wonderful neutrals and mauve tones. The packaging is unparalleled in the beauty department and inside it even gives you a daily affirmation as you apply. Though the shades are nice and everyday usable, I find the consistency kind of powdery with the glitters and mattes, causing a lot of fallout. If you do your shadow first, this isnt an issue. This palette also has a highlight shade and two blushes, so is very useful.
For the price of $55CAD it is a little steep, but it is currently on sale on Tarte's online store for $47.
(Had to show you the inside, its just so nice!!)

3. NAKED BASICS by Urban Decay

This is the baby sister to the Naked palette I mentioned above. I use this palette on a daily basis for everything; from using the mid tone brown to do my brows and the lightest shade (only shimmery shade) to highlight everything from my brow bone to the tip of my nose. The mattes in this palette have an almost creamy texture and blend beautifully. This can be found at Sephora for $36

4. SWEET PEACH PALETTE by TOO FACED

This palette was a splurge purchase when I got my makeup done for a friends stagette party. I couldn't leave it there. It smells like fuzzy peaches and all of the colours are amazing alone and blended together. The peachy tones and multi-finishes make it a go-to day to day. You can get it in-store and online from Sephora for $59CAD.

I have many more, but I wanted to share with you my favourites. Let me know in the comments if there is a palette I should try out and let me know what one you are loving right now. Have a wonderful day!!
